21 DAYS OF PRAYER

January 5-25, 2025

From the beginning of Triumph DC, we have made it a priority to seek God first in prayer. We do this collectively as a church in January and August, through a prayer and fasting emphasis. These two months are intentional, as they begin new seasons of the year. Together, we faithfully seek God first, trusting in His power alone to create lasting impact in our lives, our church, and our world.

21-Day Plan (3 Elements)

1.   Make a Prayer Plan

  • 15 min with God | 5 min worship, 5 min Bible reading, 5 min prayer

  • Join us for in-person worship & prayer Wednesday nights (January 7, 14, 21) from 7-8pm.

    • Wednesday Night Worship & Prayer will be held at our ministry center across the street from the Atlas at 1326 H St NE (upstairs unit).

    • CLICK HERE to download our prayer guide with a unique prayer point for each day & general direction for daily prayer focuses.

  • PRAY THE LORD’S PRAYER | Join us in the earliest Christian practice of praying the Lord’s Prayer THREE times a day. Incorporate this into your spontaneous prayer. You can set an alarm on your phone to remind you. In this way, we share in the rhythms of Christians for the last 2,000 years and orient our heart toward God throughout the day.

  • KNEEL in prayer | At least once a day, kneel when praying. Changing our posture can change our perspective. The act of kneeling signifies that one is placing themselves beneath God's authority,

    • Psalm 95:6: "Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!".

    • Ephesians 3:14: "For this reason I bow my knees before the Father" (referring to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ).

    • Luke 22:41: "And He withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down and began to pray" (Jesus in Gethsemane).

2. Make a Bible Plan

Intentionally spend time reading God’s word. Pick a plan - one year, 90 days, or 30 days - and join a Bible reading group for accountability and encouragement.

3. Make a Fasting Plan

FASTING is a dedicated part of our January season of 21 Days of Prayer.

Fasting = to voluntarily reduce or eliminate your intake of food for a specific time and purpose.

As a church, we are fasting together (abstaining from all food or at least all meat) on Wednesdays & Fridays (until 3pm or sundown). The earliest Christians fasted this way from the time of Jesus until now - Wednesday (remembering the betrayal of Christ by Judas Iscariot) and Friday (remembering the Crucifixion of our Lord). By incorporating this rhythm into our lives, practice self-denial, learn self-control, and feast on our communion with Jesus as we look toward God’s coming Kingdom.

Other Fasting Options:

  • Liquid Fast – refrain from all solid foods

  • Daniel – eat only fruits & vegetables

  • Lunch Fast – fast lunch every day

  • Intermittent – eat only during certain hours
